empty nest

so i'm already contemplating my retirement years from parenting. lucas has left home, replaced me with a devoted wife, and calls once a week to check on us. she's lovely, but he could have done a lot better in my opinion. it's a bit lonely, but i have a good group of friends at the community centre, and we get out a few times a week for walks along the seawall, evenings of keno & slots, and of course there's my weekly wash & set with lance (he hasn't aged a bit!). i'll admit, i do spend too much time going through old photos and remembering the days when i was needed, when i was an important person in my son's life. seems like just yesterday he was my little boy, my angel, my everything, and now... they say it's not good to dwell in the past, but nowadays it's all i have.
